Summer Learning Journey: Scavenger hunt

Today for the Summer Learning Journey I am writing about the scavenger hunt task.  I did a walk with my sisters a few days ago when we were in Hanmer Springs. Before the walk we decided to look for: pine cones, toadstools, different leaves, flowers, rocks and wooden carvings (because we went on the forest amble walk which is full of wooden carvings) some of the carvings were bears, possums, dogs, eagles, rats, apes, and a giant! We found all the carvings. Here are my photos:

Have you done a scavenger hunt in the forest before?

Summer Learning Journey : found sounds

I have been busy today because it is New Years Eve! but I did get to do this one it is the challenge - found sounds. It is where you make instruments by using things around the house to make an instrument. I made 4 shakers. I will tell you what is in them, paper in one, cardboard in one, beads in one, and sunflower seeds in one. I did a video to show you.

If you choose to do this task I wonder what actions you will choose?

Summer learning Journey : fingerprints

I am doing the Nanogirl's fingerprint challenge. We have to take a photo of your fingerprint and share it on your blog. There are three types of fingerprints loop, arch and whorl.

My hands were too clean so it was hard  to get a good fingerprint. I dipped my finger in baking soda but as you can see you can't see a pattern because it just looks like a big blob.

After that I tried to rub my fingers together to get them a little bit sweaty and that worked better I have uploaded both photos so you can see the difference between them.

Mine looks like arch but then it also looks a bit like loop what do you think?

This is the baking soda one

This is the sweaty fingers one!
